Freewrite Prompt: Remote

It was a very nice weather on the island. Sarah woke up and looked out to the beach. She knew exactly what she wanted to do that morning.

After washing up, she changed into her surfing suit and grabbed her ol' surfboard to hit the waves. That's how she has been for the last 5 years.

As usual, the waves were great that day and did not disappoint. Sarah loves surfing. It makes her feel like she's in control and not being controlled.

As she got back up, she saw some of her friends whom she had made on the island, thus they hit the bar to grab some beer for leisure.

She could still "hear" her mom's nagging, "Hey how could you drink that with an empty stomach? It can make you ill. How many times do I need to remind you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day?" bla bla bla. Her nagging hardly stops.

"That's why I move far far away from her, to somewhere so remote that even my 'remote control' cannot find me. I'm out of range, Hahaha, " Sarah always joked about that with her mates. Everyone who's on her mom's "side" said it is just immature for her to being remote, cutting off ALL contacts and connections except by pass mentioning to her brother her company name but Sarah sees it differently, totally. She loves her life now, free and easy. No one kept bugging her to find a proper job, she can get loose with anyone, she got herself tattoos and need not care that it embarrasses her mom, she surfs as she likes. Now, that is what heavenly is, my friend.

Suddenly, she saw Josh running towards her, panting to catch his breath. "What's the matter, Josh? "

"Sa... Sarah, you got to... You got to come quick. There's an email to the company from your brother. He said... "

"What did he say?" Sarah was still relaxing with her beer.

"He said, your mom has passed away! You got to go home! "

Cold sweat streamed down Sarah's back. That was something she never expect. You mean her mom? That tough woman who can work almost 7 days a week and she exercises as hard as she works?

"This must have been a mistake. I know my mom."

"Call home, Sarah. It's time, " Josh gave her a hug.

She did not return the hug. She was still in shock. She didn't know how and what to feel at that very moment.
