A Favorite Freewrite Poem

Recommend Freewrite Poetry is a weekly event at the Freewrite House.

So many of you are gifted poets and sometimes, we don’t find all the wonderful poems. As always, all of us together are going to be so much better. We see more poems and all of us have different tastes and opinions. We like to hear them!

We extended the time for this contest and you now have three days to find a Freewrite Poem and participate. Please, help us find the talented Freewrite Poets out there so we can feature them.

Win, Win, Win!!!

You Tell Us about your favorite Freewrite Poem for a Chance to Win Memberships in Steem Basic Income.

This week’s sponsors are

@c-cubed/@c-squared

We are open and willing to accept sponsorship for any of our contests!

Prizes

Huge shout out to our sponsor for this contest @c-squared!

  • 2 SBI unit

  • 2 x 100% upvote from the Freewrite House

Winners are chosen by random drawing. Prizes might increase in the future.

  • We want to make it super easy for you. Your task is to tell us in the comment section about one - or more- freewrite poems of others you have read in the last week you really liked.
  • Not your own!!
  • Please make sure to search beyond the #freewritepoetry and #freewritepoetrydigest tags. Not all poets use them and we want to find them all!!!
  • Check the comment section of the Daily Prompt @mariannewest and you will find many.

Please make sure that the poem you recommend was inspired by a freewrite!

Remember the comment must be at least 50 words long - no upper limit!

In an ideal world, you also give that person a nice upvote - but we are not going to check on that.

Basically, to be entered into the drawing, all you need to do is tell us about a Freewrite poem you really liked and why.

The Rules

This is what you have to do for your chance to win:

  • Find a Freewrite Poem
  • Leave us a comment as specified above
  • The comment must have at least 50 words
  • We will let you know if your comment is accepted and give you a number.

Here are a couple of free word count tools:
http://wordcounttool.net/
https://www.countofwords.com

At 8 PM Pacific time the Saturday after the publishing of this post, we will close the contest and draw the winner through a random number generator.

The winner will be announced and sponsored soon after.

@wandrnrose7 could use some help with the Poetry Digest. Please let us know if you like to write it for a while.

Finding a Freewrite Poem

If you are not familiar with the daily freewrite prompt and the many wonderful writers who produce the most amazing 5-minute (or sometimes much longer) Freewrites, go to @mariannewest and look for the prompt. The graphics look like this

Imgur

In the comments, you find lots of links to all kind of Freewrites and Freewrite poems. We are asking the poets to use the #freewritepoetry or #freewritepoetrydigest but not all do. Search high and low for those wonderful poems.

Also, tell poets you know to start writing with us using the daily prompt.

Most people do find poetry boring, the same it is with classical music. You like it or you hate it.

The problem with poetry is frequently words are chosen most people do not understand. If the words are not understood it is very hard to feel any emotion.

@d00k13 knows how to reach out to the public with words we all understand. No need to push ourselves to our limit. It is clear language, no critical needed to explain what the idea behind it is. Although the poem is dedicated to @fitinfun (so personal) most of us (especially those who join actifit) will recognize themselves in it.

Keep
It
Stupidity
Simple

KISS = me speak like simple folk 😅

Glad you enjoyed it 🤗 thanks for the entry 💪

I’ve been told speaking on a level of universal understanding is one of my skills, here it comes up again but in my poetry now 🤣🤣🤣

Whole reason I am the talking head for #OneLoveDTube as the tech guys even loose me when they start speaking their own language 😏 that’s where my spoken from the heart simple folk talk comes in 😉

At least now I understand what you are talking about and if you want to reach out to more people, get them interested as well it is the only way.
As a simple person with a lack of (English) words I am very happy with you around!

Right on hun 💪 glad you find my simplistic writings enjoyable, simple language can be used for the sake of inclusion where technical language is immediately divisional!

We get an eerie take on life and death in this freewrite poem by @dlamini:

https://steemit.com/freewrite/@dlamini/the-lost-lives-a-freewrite-poetry-kr0ddhvq

Since I am not a depressed or suicidal person, the words here give me an insight I would not otherwise have. Freewrite gives me another glimpse into somewhere else I don't think I will ever end up. I'm glad to say the person in this poem was saved.

I love this one by @jeanlucsr : https://steempeak.com/partiko/@jeanlucsr/play-that-steem-music-gkfsdkon
It speaks to me of the refuge music can provide. In response to the troubles in the world, he plays his sax. I do this with a few different music and movement activities, and feel they clear my head and strengthen my resolve to do something to make a difference however tiny that difference is. @jeanlucsr did a great job of capturing all that.

Thank you for the recommendation #❤

For this weeks' contest, I would like to nominate @glenalbrethsen for: Grandpa Gotta Answer—Stitch (Five-Minute Freewrite) because he pretty much covers the word stitch in all of its forms. As a word lover, I was intrigued by all of the associations, meanings and sayings, a stitch saves nine. And, nine is my favorite number, and stitches remind me of my great grandmother, Myrl with her tatting shuttle making lace and I remember my two babies watching the ever annoying Lilo and Stitch and that's really what our written words ought to do, take the reader on a journey of our very own creation!

I found a great poem by @pixiehunter on the prompt saxophone. After having a restless night of sleep because of thoughts running through her mind, @pixiehunter had to rock herself to sleep with music. I often like to listen to the radio before I head to sleep. I seem to get to sleep faster when there's background music playing. Great job on this poem. 👏

Thank you so much Bruni :)

@mr-neil writes an interesting poem and I hope my interpretation is right. It is about a saxophone player that plays his instrument and then goes off in a tangent which makes the audience think deeply about their lives, then brings them back to the moment by playing his sax again. What a clever poem this is.

Thank you so much. I don't do much poetry, but this one just came together nicely. Off on a tangent could refer to an improvised solo or something else. I'll leave that to you.

The improvised solo was my first thought. I really enjoyed your poem. : )
