Day 28 #freewrite - "Ooze"

in #freewrite9 years ago

I reached into the bucket, hoping to grab a handful of delicious and nutritious sprouts for the chickens. I came up with a handful of ooze. The weather had gotten too warm, the grain at the bottom had turned to mush and was fouling the entire batch.

A little cursing under my breath which helped not at all, and I took the gooey mess out back and dumped it over the hillside. When the sprouts get fermented, that is fine. The chickens enjoy the occasional beer as much as anyone. When they get mildewed or moldy or oozy, I just can't risk feeding that to my girls. I need them healthy and happy!

The California quail will have a feast instead. They love the sprouted grains, even when they stink. I have never noticed any quail having any problems eating it, so it probably would not hurt my chickens either but I just can't risk it. Besides, it is fun watching the quail chow down. Silly birds with that top-know feather, they amuse me endlessly. Enjoy the ooze, you crazy Californians!

This blog is for the birds! 😀

Great to have you join in on the freewrite, and a nice first entry! I'll shake your hand after you wash up a bit. 😜

Lol! Yeah, life on the chicken ranch is not really glamorous...

A very practical free write! Here in the tropics things get oozy fast, we know the feeling 😉

Indeed! I have lived where I felt a little oozy myself, even fresh out of a shower. I do appreciate the arid climate here! Helps reduce ooze a lot.

I see you are in Idaho! One of the few states I have not yet visited - dry sounds nice! We are very humid, and thats the scientific classification!

Cutie chickies!! Oh, i hate when that happens!! and I had get ferments bad on me when it got too hot as well.
