The phone dropped! A weekend freewrite

This is the weekend freewrite challenge. I am using @mariannewest’s #weekendfreewrite, to write this piece please read here. Continuing with Mary's life, Mark, her brother, reflects on the days he lived in jail and how he now feels fulfilled as a new entrepreneur. I hope you enjoy my fiction story.

Yes. She is a friend. Well, she was one until recently...
Some time ago he always had it in his mind, in the days he spent in jail his memory always went to her, since the day he was stopped by the police, Mark was having dinner with her.
He had been involved with a political party contrary to the government but was only a passive supporter, had been present at several of his meetings but only as an observer.
On the day of his detention he was having dinner with his friend Paola, without warning the police stopped him to question him and immediately transferred him to a court with an absurd sentence.
In jail he always sat at rest with only the company of a stray dog, thinking about the awkward moment of his farewell to Paola.
Meanwhile, Mary, her sister with the help of a lawyer achieves her release.
Month by month, your calendar is a vivid reminder of all that ... means to you...
Mark in jail thus valued the time his mind associated the stormy moments of his life when in autumn the rains swept the port and he had to go to shelter inside his house.
They were moments in which the early cold damp squash him to the bone, there in the jail he felt the desolation and the discouragement of the impossibility of being free.
After three months of his imprisonment his sister began a legal battle for his release, he was fortunate to meet one of the best lawyers in the country and at the beginning of his defense the media began to support him, several demonstrations at the doors of the courts They helped create a favorable environment. Already when his release was achieved for his birthday, Mary took the phone and communicated the good news.

When he answered the call from his sister Mark, he couldn't believe it. Now when he started working as an entrepreneur in the restaurant, all those bad moments were left behind, however, one of the certain advantages he now had was the publicity he had had in the wake of his trial and defense in court.
When the news spread that Mary and Mark had acquired the restaurant, the news expanded on social media.
The day of the restaurant's reopening, all the tables were adorned with a vase of roses with executive service and a total full.
Everyone commented on the event in the city and after the first few days they always had good receptivity from customers and acquaintances.
When Paola learned of Mark's success, she was encouraged to visit him at the restaurant. When they saw each other again, Mark could not believe she was there, he thought to recriminate her for not having called him anymore but he refrained from doing so and hugged her with love.
She sighing said:
"Honey, I think you should now think about starting a franchise since your name is known throughout the country."
He answered:
"Who said fear, seems like an excellent idea."
With this new challenge, they would approach their life from that moment.

I think I missed the part how Mark ended up in prison? I have doubts life is so easy once out. 🤔 People do not forget easily no matter the reason you ended up there. He must be a good cook. Happy writing. 💕
