Freewrite: Sunday-- What Is In That Mason Jar?

A trail leading into the woods so light only a master tracker would spot it. After a few miles in with heavy tree foliage covered every direction you look. You could barely make out what appears to be a shack in the middle of an opening in the dense woods.
The shack itself was covered in green and brown camo netting and had been taken over by nature itself. Rotting wood and moss growing all over the few warped logs used. Vines twisting along and around the netting and in and out of the wood smelling of musk. The roof was leaky and had not been repaired in years. Around it where bits of broken glass. It had no windows and the door had fallen off its hinges years ago and tossed aside.
Instead was a lot of barrels set up in different stages of rotting corn along with different ingredients in unmarked boxes and jars. Off in one of the corners was a distillery set up and rusting to the touch you swore if you touch it instant death from an infected of tetanus. So you decided to stay away and continue scanning the room with your eyes.
Along the walls were boxes and boxes of creates of mason jars. Most of them empty but some filled with a strange liquid. You know it was stupid but you look around to make sure no one was in sight. You take a giant gulp and could not believe it- Was this gasoline –wohoooo. Nope, it was moonshine.
The walk back out of the woods was a blurry haze.

Moonshine is awesome. Everybody seems to be really enjoying drinking moonshine lately. We even sell moonshine at my restaurant now.
It is so strange thinking there is both legal and illegal production of moonshine these days. I’ve never had any myself. I would assume it has a certain kind of appeal to people wanting to feel a little wicked but not breaking any laws having it in a restaurant legally.
Seems a bit like how absinthe has seen some popularity since it has a reputation for being banned for a while.
It is interesting how that always works. Tell us we cant have something and charge triple the price then bring it down to 1.5 the price and make it legal again but without supply being able to keep up with demand so you get a better markup.
I read that and thought what is a "Freemason jar "? Lol
A very special kind of Freemason! I don't know very much about them myself. if I recall George Washington was one.
Not the best color I see now on this screen but noticed after checking what they where looking for I had done the yesterdays opps.
Silly cat getting all confused again.
Great freewrite! I tried moonshine once and once was enough. lol
Ah, finding a cabin like that. My first thought on drinking some from the jar would not have been gasoline... especially if it was a bit yellow? 😌
Welcome to the freewriters :) and if I were a discord bot, I would say now: 'What took you so long?" 😂 .
Great writing skills. What a discovery. Boxes and boxes of mason jars and all turns out to be moonshine? Lol. Really the good stuff through and through.
