Day 524: 5 Minute Freewrite: Thursday - Prompt: buffer

Buffer... The first time I came across this word was during my second job about thirteen years ago. I was a production planner back then. Buffer to me means buffer stock - safety stock.

Whenever I planned for the production to run, I needed to calculate in a certain percentage of buffer. A 10 to 20 percent depended on the products.

A good experience I had working in that company. Learnt a lot from my seniors. That's the time when I learnt whenever I sent emails to customers I must cc to at least one senior or colleague. This is very important. Whenever we have external communication, we must not work alone. This is to protect ourselves and our department/company.

Sort of like we must have at least one third party be the witness of the entire situation. To avoid any misunderstanding, miscommunication or different expectations.
