Come on dad… -the kid was showing him the best impression of a sad puppy that he had ever seen

No. –but his resolve wasn’t so weak

But it’s the first time in decades that a traveling circus comes to this village, you said so yourself! –now a quivering lower lip, and the eyes were slightly more moist.

That kid… it was true he said that, but it seems he forgot that they didn’t have any money left after repairing their carriage and buying a new horse after the previous one was killed during the escape of a captured wyvern last week. But the kid had worked hard for too long, and his acting was getting quite good, it would be a nice reward and a chance to learn… but how would they pay?.

Both of them seemed to be reaching a conclusion (a sad “no” and an angry “I’ll hide and see”) when the sound of thrumpets and flutes alongside heavy footsteps and laugh reached them. From a corner, the circus troupe was coming, voicing out in amplified voices about a a show from them.

“Get a taste from The Golden Joy!, only tonight, a free event for a free village!”

He saw the kid, gone was the sad puppy mask, now replaced by a face splitting grin. “Why not?” he thought, “what’s the worse that could happen…?”.
