5 Minute Freewrite Day 500: Sound
She could see them from afar, small because of the distance, but with shadows that exalted how utterly despicable they were, and what they had done. Her form was unmoving, but shaking, was it the cold air of night?, or maybe a mix of fear and anger?, either way, her eyes were glued to the fires, ash and smoke that just a couple of hours before were the buildings of her peaceful island town.
Crackling still in her ears, mad laughing, and screams stabbing her soul with their horrifying sound. There were other people in the boat, including her friend Boddynock, but right now she didn`t care, the young girl that she was just wanted to forget, to erase all that had happened, and so she closed her eyes and covered her ears.
She though silence would come, but no, not for a long time. Even if the fires and the betrayers were now lost in the distance, the sound of crying, of desperation from the few survivors was right there in that and the other boats. Her own tears would be a reminder of when her parents sacrificed themselves to let her escape, and the memory from those people would never fade.
