5 Minute Freewrite Day 499: Meat and Gravy
“Oh dear, don’t worry and just keep eating your lamb, want more sauce?”, said the old lady to the man who, while pleased, was also starting to get too full. In his mind he never though that he would get to eat so much, but the delicious food (specially the meat and gravy) and the infectious happiness of that people mixed very well with their wholehearted disposition to pamper him as a way of saying thanks for saving their farm.
Honestly, he was just going to ask for a discount on some bread and cheese, but the whole 12 members of the Harland family insisted that getting rid of the pack of malformed wererats was worth more than just a simple discount. Sebastian agreed, but kept to himself that the wererats were magically malformed because the family had disturbed the old shrine of a seemingly forgotten god, and he had to also fight the corporeal memory remnants.
With how they were acting, he suspected that after a period of heavy guilt, they would just ignore it, and then offer one of their daughter’s hands in marriage, because in the words of Momma Gertrude “A smart man would bring good blood to the family”. He considered that for a second but declined in the end, the 2 girls closer to his age were indeed attractive, but it was not his time to settle down. With a sight, followed by a burp, he asked for a glass of almond liquour as digestive, and prayed for his stomach to endure.
