5 Minute Freewrite Day 494: Mom and Dad

She was laying in her bed, silently observing the ceiling, tracing each and every line with her young and watery eyes. The girl didn’t want to think about what happened that day, but it was impossible.

Everything in her world torn apart, she was taken away from her town, and her mom taken by some people dressed in black after she stopped breathing. The two of them lived alone, and that was enough, but some days after her mom went away, a carriage appeared and from that, a man came out, saying he was her father.

Lord Lorenzo Gracci seemed like a good man, all elegant and educated, and he was for a while. But the nice words and pleasant demeanor ended when reaching the big city and she met her siblings and stepmother. That was a day filled with the most fake smiles, and the most sweetened threats and harassing she had up until that moment.

Her father stayed distant, and she became a pariah in the household that it was supposed to be hers too. She felt like crying, but she promised her mom that she would be strong, that she would live on and make all her dreams come true. She fell asleep, wishing not to dream, for this night at least.
