5 Minute Freewrite Day 493: Stitch

Pain, like a bite, like a sting. Pain, not overwhelming but scary, over and over again in various parts of his body. What was happening?, he couldn’t move, but he could see and almost feel the darkness surrounding him.

A laugh, like a butterfly fluttering in the wind, felt familiar. It was at first beautiful and warm, but then it became cold and scary. Another bite, some other stings. His last memory was neither so oppressive nor empty; he had more light, more colors, even if they were the ones of leaves and bushes rapidly moving at his sides, as if he was running away from something… something that in the end made him fall into blackness, this blackness.

He heard his name, in that alluring and scary voice that he felt he knew, he, she, that, it was making fun of him, and he felt himself stir at the same time that the voice mutated, distorting itself into something else, someone else.

Pain, like a bite, like a sting, one more time. He opened his eyes to see a woman dressed in white, with thread and needles being put into a metal tray. She said the last stitch was already done, and now it was time for the bandages to be put on. That wasn’t the voice from before, she wasn’t Charlotte, and that put him at ease.
