5 Minute Freewrite Day 486: Test
His face was contorted with a mixture of anxiety and raw fear, and sweat was trickling down his forehead faster than the hottest summer in the valley, despite the chilly night in Lyss. The date was coming, a date that he knew he needed to live trough, but decided to not think about. His hands were shaking, and the book he had in front of his face suddenly became laughable, he was just trying to avoid things by reading some sweet verses, but he couldn’t scape.
Was he going to make it?, be worth the effort of many and the trust of a few dear ones?, he wished he had a bottle of ale close by, but just mere hours separated him from that-which-he-feared, and being drunk during it wouldn’t help, no matter how much the little ghostly imp in his left shoulder told him so.
Morning came and with it heavy bags under his eyes. He couldn’t escape, so better be over with it fast. Grabbing his tools, and offering a prayer to his placeholder goddess, the boy opened the door of his room and walked the still mostly empty hallways that guided him towards the main courtyard. Once there, a figure clad in dark robes approached him and said, in a darkly mellow voice:
Welcome Monsieur Renard, ready for you first magic test?.

Mesmerizing plot. Suspense build up, in fact, built up tension in our minds. You took your freewrite in such a way that made us to believe that something wrong is going to happen to him.
