5 Minute Freewrite Day 469: By The Book
Sitting in the ground, dirty and somewhat beaten-up, Fabricia looked at Giacomo through eyes filled with confusion and some rage. He had always been a strict teacher, but today he seemed different, nervous, anxious, prone to bursts of anger.
She wanted to ask why, but something in the back or her mind kept her from doing so. It was the kind of sensation that whispered quietly into your mind, saying something along the lines of You know what you did. But she didn’t know, or didn’t want to recognize it.
The old soldier, her swordfighting teacher, stood in front of her, watching downwards with the scowl of a man with many things in his head. He spoke in a calm voice, but with an undertone of warning:
I know what you are thinking, and I know something of what you are feeling. Whatever you are planning to do to prove anything to your father in the next Gala, it’s a bad idea. You are still a child, smart but ignorant of many things, so let me tell you something: if you want to play with the aristocrats at their level, you have to do things by the book.

It's true, the aristocrats plays by the book but sometimes you need to go out of your way to hit them with a new notion.
