5 Minute Freewrite Day 467: Wild and Wooly

The snobbishly angry mob still chased her, trough streets, alleys and open spaces, with pitchforks from out of nowhere, and torches that in the middle of the night made them seem like hell spawns. She ran, trying to get away with what she felt became a sin with every second, and the shadow and screams never got too far from her.

Around a corner, the south gate of the city showed itself and with it, the chance of freedom, but her betraying steps made her fall with the help from the slippery mud. Down in the earth she heard as the people got close until they were right above her.

No escape now bastard child, you will not cause any more trouble… -and the shadow of some big furry coat she knew very well obscured her vision and started to suffocate her.

Fabricia suddenly woke up, out of breath and with her face covered with something. Something, heavy soft and warm, that went away as soon as she tried to raise herself up. Looking around, still groggy, the many sheep that surrounded her made her think they were clouds and she actually died and went to heaven.

But when a Sheppard dog came and started to make them group into a marching herd, they ran fast, as if remembering the ancient times when they weren’t domesticated livestock, and the dog wasn’t a supervisor but their lupine doom. When they were wild and wooly she thought, and it was time for her to also keep going.
