Gluttonous snakey snake

The red-and-green-striped snake slithered across the river, looking to the sides, in constant search for prey to eat. A little mouse ran away under a rock. Boom! The snake seemed like a cannon as it flew from the river and onto the rock. The forest was empty in days, no animals were left around the river.
The locals wondered what was happening around their village. What is happening here? What natural phenomenon is killing this ecosystem? Is it global warming or a secret hunter? But the birds, the insects and even the mammals. Every little living being was disappearing day to day. The plants and the other parts of the ecosystem were suffering because of this.
It was an environmental concern until the first hunter party disappeared. Nothing was left of it, then the search party disappeared and the forest was quarantined. Nobody would risk their lives anymore with this. The military was involved right away. Hundreds of soldiers formed a perimeter around the forest.
An empty tank lay next to the river, rotting and forgotten in a graveyard of human creations.

i think this is the shortest short story I've ever gotten into that fast! i really hope you decide to make a sequel to this because I'm curious to know where your mind was going with this quarantined forest and what the heck was behind an entire ecosystem disappearance. also, maybe its because I'm an architecting map maker, but the imagery i have in my mind for this is super vivid - i can imagine it being this ghost town forest - but how to show it?! not even crickets would be chirping (and thats the literal sound definition of nothingness lol). anyway, loved it!

Breanna's steps resounded louder than they should. It sounded unnatural, as if silence were the law in this forest and any noise might wake up the dark enforcer. A branch fell to her right; her heart raced in her chest. Her heart's thumps added to the noise fest, to the death threat, till the slither started. She knew she was done for.

:) ! Thank you! I'm really happy that you like my writing style. I'm also a bit new to freewrite as it is presented here on Steemit, but I've been trying my hand at some variations, mainly brainstorming and surreal techniques, for a while. I also love reading the different takes people have on it.
Writing these is such a pleasure! You might have what's called "writer's block" and not be able to produce something new, but a freewrite certainly helps you, or makes you, overcome that obstacle. I'm really glad I found this! It has helped me greatly to improve.

It is good fun to read others stories and ideas and it helps a writer like me who isnt too natural with writing. Sometimes you just have to go with whatever comes out no mater how ridiculous it might sound

Yeaaah o.o Though if it had titanic dimensions it would be hard to slither through the trees. It would have to crush them and move over them.

:) Then what happened next? Did they all die? What caused it? Curioser and curioser.
Just those who entered the forest. The snake wouldn't leave it, but humans kept entering to look at what the hell was killing everything, and they were all eaten by the snake.
Roar big tummy snake then. Ending? hahaha I'm just pretty curious. ♥
No ending, I think. They just leave it alone and set it up as forbidden area and everything goes back to normal around the place. And every few decades someone goes it to prove that it's a lie or that it's already gone and nobody ever comes out for all of eternity until Earth does kaboom.

I LOVE this title!! I'm just glad that's not real life. Search party disappearing? Your writing is the stuff of Halloween. Which is my favorite holiday. So that's a huge compliment.
