A red scarf flashes against the sand
As the wind sweeps it from an outstretched hand
Will it fly far away? Or will it come to land?
A blue bit of ribbon comes down from the trees
She barely glances, still she sees
It comes from outside borders or peripheries
Underfoot green woolens are doomed to be trodden
They are dank, dark and sodden
All the beloveds, buried and forgotten...
Above gleams a scrim of pure gold
Every morning it is new again, every night it is old
Without its light to wrap ourselves in, the world would be cold.
