Day 102 - 5 Minute Freewrite - Prompt: Paint

This story is in response @mariannewest 's prompt for day 102 of her 5-minute freewrite challenge. Today's prompt was paint.

I love watching paint dry. Some people might get bored, but I've always been blessed with exceptional patience. I might lack in other things, like organizational skills, basic social skills, any kind of aptitude at excellence in any particular domain... but I do have patience.

I once waited months for a squirrel to come out of a hole in a tree. It was only later that I discovered that squirrels hibernate. Still worth it? When that furry little creature came out to greet the spring, I.... accidentally scared the shit of of it. Sorry squirrel!

I once waited for the carrots to grow in my garden. They never grew in the end. Must have planted them wrong.

I once waited for magic to return to the earth. Still waiting for that. I'm patient though.

I once waited for love, and I waited what seems like an eternity. This is the one time in my life when my patience almost ran out. Then, when I'd pretty much given up, I found her (or she found me). And with love to lean on now, I could wait a lifetime for everything else and still be happy.
