Man's Best Friend. 5 Minute Freewrite Prompt: Hair

"Another hair," He said, pulling another dog hair off of his shirt. "I swear, I must breathe so much dog hair, I'm surprised that I don't turn into one!" He laughed at himself. He always did think he was pretty funny.

Now I don't know if its because he said just the right phrase, or if it was just that he made the claim several times a day for years and finally hit the magic number, but...

The next morning he woke up, the dog, his favorite living being, wrapped around him like normal. He got up to takeTIberius for his morning walk (I'm not sure he'd ever have gotten any exercise if not for taking his dog for walks twice a day!) and made his bathroom wake up stop. As he was brushing his teeth, he noticed a couple of long white hairs sticking out from his eyebrow. "Huh," he thought, I must be getting old. My eyebrows are turning white!"

He laughed and plucked the weirdly long hairs from his brow. Gone and forgotten, just like that.

He got back home with his dog about an hour later and his wife said, "Honey, what's that? I think You got some of Tiberius' hair stuck in your eyebrows." The kids laughed. Dad looked a little ridiculous with long white hairs sticking out of his eyebrows!

"What were you doing, dad? Rubbing your face in Tiberius' fur this morning?" They all chuckled as their dad started to pull the white hairs from his face.

"Ouch!" he said... the hairs weren't STUCK... they were growing out of his face.

He noticed the kids' eye s getting round. "What?"

"Umm...dad, your BEARD!" He reached down and felt his beard, suddenly longer than he remembered. Not freakishly so, but now his beard felt much more fluffy and... he pulled the hair away from his face so he could see it... BRIGHT WHITE HAIR! Holy crap!!!

The kids started laughing and pointing, "DAD! LOOK AT YOUR ARMS!"

He looked and watched as pure white hairs... fur? started sprouting before his eyes! "What the... bark?"

Everyone went silent... this was becoming a decidedly STRANGE day.

All photos are mine, featuring our dog Tiberius and @Serapium my husband, who may or may not be a tiny bit obsessed with our dog. Who, admittedly, is a pretty amazingly fantastic dog.
