The Dog Bites : Day 278: 5 Minute Freewrite

The idea of rearing dogs is prohibited in our house, some bad experiences before I was born left an unpleasant taste on my mum's bud till date.

The first was the day a dog bite a small boy, the boy didn't go home to report what happened but kept it hidden from his mum, not knowing that the dog has rabbies, the boy didnt know he has been infected too. Days after he was sick, that was when the wound was discovered, instead of the boy to open up he told his mum he develop the wound while playing football with his friend. So, the mother took care of it like a normal wound, this boy barked to death in the middle of the night. Sending the whole street into mourning for weeks.

It was then the whole thing came out to light. But it was too late.

That wasn't all.

Just last year, in some area here, the street becomes quiet as the grave during the day time as everyone moved out to there diffreent working place. So, thieves has come with up with an idea to rob during the day, this made each one to buy some exitic monstrous dogs to keep there house safe. Then came a time a particluar couple had a baby and the mother-in-law came to help them in taking care of the baby.

The couples left to work as usual only to meet the mother dead with ferocious dog bites all over her, what happendd? No one knows. The baby was found safe though.

My mum has a way of picking the wrong side of things especially if she hates it, everyone does, am made to believe that. Mum doesnt want to smell a dog breathe not to tall of a whole living one, she's scared to death of it, memories are still fresh. And here I am, I love dogs.

They are man's best company, even the exotic or foreign ones can be trained to be friendly. I've seen them been friendly before despite there huge larger than life figure. They are smart too.

personally, i believe you still have an opportunity to have and rear your own dogs, when you get your house, you can do whatsoever you desire, meanwhile, what a story!

You can start by buying a local one from tge puppy stage, trust me, the two of you will become friends forever, you can from there upgrade the breed.

OMG! These are horrific stories and I don't blame your mom for being wary of having a dog in the house. Hopefully, she will be able to see that not all dogs are vicious.
