Miss Represent

Their opulent robes did not hide the ugliness beneath for long.

Fake smiles permanently engraved as a Machiavellian domino to belie heinous intentions soon gave way to underlying wormholes of revolting truths.

Once you were in,

Long after their talons had ripped you deep like an autopsy victim and shredded your soul into hamburger meat.

We never saw it coming.

The manipulation was beautiful in it's execution, that could not be denied. The skill and calculation to get us where they wanted us was a rival to the seven wonders.

Now, soulless and despondent for the lives we once led, we shuffle like spirits along the vast hallways of hell on Earth. They use us and abuse us and leave us to wither away into the nothingness we have become.

Because we trusted.

Because we cared.

The meek shall inheret the Earth? Whoever coined that phrase must have been a wearer of the Robes. One of the original designers of the game. Repeated to us as if words hold truth in themselves. As if we would blindly believe what they told us.

As if.

But.. it worked. Because we walked right in with our shoulders back and our hearts wide open.

Back when we still had hearts.
