RE: Desperate. 5 Minute-Freewrite
This is a very good question.
Why not stay where you are and make change from the inside.
Who made America the good guy?
Probably the most dangerous presedent and country in the world at the moment...

You're probably right. Why not stay and make change from the inside?
Because it is an uneven fight, one that has last long enough to make more than 5 million give up. It's the whole state aparatus (no separation of powers ) agains unarmed citizens.
In any case, America is not the final destination of most Venezuelans, I added a caption to the 1st image to clarify that.
Who made America the good guy? Rhetoric, circumstances.
The fact that many countries are impervious to our crisis, that some others simply demand to let Maduro govern, period (after all he is the "legitimately elected president"), or the fact that the US at least has done something to reveal the level of corruption and cruelty of Maduro's administration.
It may just be more of the same. Politics is dirty and treacherous, but on the surface, if you ask the average deseperado to choose, they will pick America as the good guy (at least it is pretending to be one).
"President legitimately elected", only with the laws instituted by themselves
The Nazis also ruled under their laws, in defense of their constitution. This they had to be invaded by the allies. After the war Germany was divided in two. Now we have to hope that it will happen with Venezuela, in how many parts are going to divide the country. When we will learn something from history. You are right. I feel disgusted when people cite legality as a justification for injustice. I think that our children deserve better.
Unfortunately, I don't think that even with a territorial division we'd be able to solve the structural problem: the people, the "new" man/woman.
Yes you are right. No one knows how they would react in that situation.
America gives the illusion of being fair and free but it maybe a case of the devil you know.
All politicians are out for what they can get. Just because you are given a choice to vote doesn't mean that things ever change.
It's a very dangerous world we live in. Mostly because of the greed of our elected leaders.
Most Americans own guns but up against the might of the police and army they can't be used to change much.
