She tossed the wet washcloth onto the side of the sink and stepped back. Her left hand came to rest on her rotund hip. The right hand wiped a rivulet of sweat from her brow.

"That's how it is, Hal." Imogene spoke into the empty kitchen. In the attached dining room lay the corpse of her now deceased husband. Hal.

Just this morning they had been a happy couple. Hadn't they? Well, sure.

Imogene took care of the house, the kids, the laundry, and the... well, she kept Hal happy at least once a month. She left her thought train at that station and disembarked.

Yes. They had been a happy couple and Hal made sure to tell everyone just how blessed he felt. In fact, as it turned out, he was telling his secretary much more than everyone else in town.

As it turned out, Miss Jessica Borlin knew quite a great deal about the goings on of Imogene's household.

Hal had a way of running things that kept Imogene busy, and himself in charge. He had always been fond of ending a demand with his catch phrase, "That's how it is, Imogene."

Well. The washcloth slipped into the sink.
