RACKET (5-minute Freewrite)

Vincent 'Vinny The Blender' Calagione only had one reason to enter the country club the afternoon of April 3, 1976. In his white and blue striped too-high tennis shorts the dark skin Italian man stood out from the crowd. While his athletic sox were pulled up over his shins, they did little to hide the bright red locks of the sultry tattoo peeking at conservative patrons as he passed. The tight tank top stretched over his bulging pasta belly which gurgled its protest of the house salad parked at table four.

Vinny carried a single racket case through the vallet entrance, past the trophy case, and down the hall to the men's locker room. Once there, he located Jim Some's locker number thirty-four. He sat on the changing bench. He bent at the waist and exchanged the gym bag under the bench for the racket case in his hand. He breathed a little easier knowing the hard part was done.
