Sure it's only a bit of sun - Freewrite
When god was making the earth 4.5 billion years ago (ahem!), there's a reason why he decided to put Ireland where he did... Even plate techtonics tried it's upmost when spreading the super continent of Pangea apart, to put Ireland as far away from the equator as possible.. Thank you Mr. Techtonics, you're a horse of a man! And the reason is this: Irish skin and the sun go together like ice cream and fish cakes.. there's at least one of you thinking hmmm, ice cream and fish cakes, that might just work.. It won't, it just won't!!
So there you have it, red haired, milk-bottle-skinned Irish men and women should avoid the sun, no shit sherlock I hear you say. Well by god, it doesnt stop us from trying to get that killer tan. We arrive off the plane with the big happy heads on us, and make a bee-line straight for the beach.
"Have you any sun screen?"
"Arah no, sure it's only to get up to 32 degrees today"
Just to put that into persepctive, it got that hot in Ireland once ever, well since records began anyway.. and I'm pretty sure it was 1800 and something.. ONE TIME! So out of your great grandparents, your grandparents and your parents, one of them saw 32 degrees once in their lifetime! Once...
Then you have the baby lotion brigade, covering their delicate skin from head to toe in baby oil and lying out in the sun for 7 hours like they were born in the Sahara.
"Can I have 2 diet cokes, 20 marlboro lights and a side portion of skin cancer please?"
So there you have it, Irish people typically dont take the sun very well, but we sure as hell give it a good try!!
For those not familiar with the freewrite, you basically have 5 minutes to write a story, beginning to end. Then post it to your page.

Yeah, as soon as it turns brown it flakes off. Here we have tanning beds. They actually turn people's skin orange. I can never figure out why people think that looks good.
Ha ha, ya, and them sun beds are really bad for your skin too, un filtered UV light straight onto the skin..

This is humour at its best! I enjoyed it so much.. I think that Irish and Italians are a great match and wait for that moment when we'll make a freewrite meeting and drink all together rivers of prosecco and guiness (not in the same glass) ;-P
That's for sure!! I was in Italy last summer for my sisters wedding, and we all had such fun with the Italians! They were really friendly and up for a laugh.. Now that freewrite meet up sounds like a plan!! That would be so cool, we could make a new cocktail, Prosecco, dash of Guinness, Rum, Mint leaves and sugar - call it a Padtalito!! :o)
I'd call it armageddon hahaha! However the freewriters cocktail is a must do.. we need to elaborate one together what do you think?
