A small step and a giant leap - Freewrite

Ask any dilligent history student:

"who was the first man in space?"

Most will be able to tell that it was Yuri Gagarin in the early 1960s. Other less studious friends may say it was Neil Armstrong, but of course that's not true, he was the first man on the moon in 1969... But not a bad guess, all the same... At least it shows a little bit of the Space Race subject soaked into their brain.

But, did you know that Yuri was not actually the first man in space at all!! It was actually a young African boy by the name Abubakar some twenty years before.

Abubakar was a farmer's assistant in a little town in Northern Egypt, He was new and was still learning his new trade. Like any apprentice, he made the occasional error of judgement, but to lose 400 sheep in a tiny town was quite the feat. He knew his boss would be furious, so he came up with a story which he thought may just convince the boss. It involved a genie, a lamp and an alternate dimension.

The boss returned, looking worn out and tired after toiling in the field all day. Abubakar relayed the story to the boss, who pondered it for a moment, and asked Abubakar to turn around.

He then took a running start and kicked him so hard up the arse, that poor Abubakar was sent flying into orbit.

It was one small step back for his boss, one giant leap for Abubakar!!

For those not familiar with the freewrite, you basically have 5 minutes to write a story, beginning to end. Then post it to your page.

Thanks to @mariannewest as always for the wonderful job she does in keeping this going every day!

Thanks for the comment, decided to go for a bit of humour today for a change... :o)

Lol !! really enjoyed the write ;) , he might be playing in space as of now .

Ha ha... Indeed and he might! :o) Thanks for stopping by @pranithreddy

Haha, the backside shot heard round the world. Too funny @ablaze!

Ha ha, thanks for dropping in and for that funny comment :o)

Hahaha how silly and funny you are .. in the company where I work dozens of employees are launched into orbit per year that way 😂😂😂

Ha ha, delighted to put a smile on your face! Yep lots of people getting kicked into orbit here too :o)

😂 You got me! I was gearing up for a history lesson and then BAM! That was funny as hell!

Ha ha, good stuff @brisby Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for taking the time to read it :o)

I would probably have believed the story. 😉 🤔

By the way, I was wondering if Abubakar was still up there or if he had fallen back to earth yet? 🙄

He's still up there... He's a space punk now... If you look really closely at 21:34 each night he orbits.. He still cant find them sheep for the life of him mind you, even from that vantage point!! But he was never the sharpest tool in the box, our Abubakar :o) :o)

Maybe those are the sheep that the sleepless use when they are trying to get some rest. 🤔

Ha ha!! Counting orbiting Abubakar's to catch a few Zzzs.... Love it :o)
