Tuesday, August 28, 2018 another bad date to remember.

Yet another massacre of innocent creatures

off the southern coast of Mexico.
Some fishermen have found the battered body of 300 sea turtles trapped in fishing nets, 300 specimens belonging to a species in danger of extinction, registered in the IUNC red list.

The Lepidochelys Olivacea turtles

live mainly in tropical areas moving between the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean, and from May to
September they swim in the waters along the coasts of the Pacific to lay eggs, but during this journey 300 of them found death.
At the moment a series of investigations are under way to ascertain the actual cause of their mass death in this last period.
As of August 13, there was the first record of 113 dead sea turtles, of which 102 belong to the olive ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea), 5 tortoises (Chelonia agassizii) and 6 more tortoiseshell (Eretmochelys imbricata), all classified under the category of Endangered by Extinction.
On July 24, the first event of sea turtle mortality was heard in the Puerto Arista Beaches Sanctuary, where 26 specimens died in different stages of decomposition.
Mexico is home to 6 of the 7 species of sea turtles in the world and through a permanent protection program it protects these wonderful creatures including criminal sanctions for those who kill them.
But what is happening?
Is the fault perhaps to be attributed to the ghost nets?
The ghost nets are tools that have been lost by the owner and no longer recovered or a system used illegally to research other target species causing the death of many marine species and this phenomenon is a huge problem worldwide.
Until that point the human being comes for his own purposes, also a macabre fishing system used by unscrupulous fishermen who use the death of innocent species to attract large predators.
Again, human beings come into conflict with the environment that surrounds it.
How do we define ourselves as the most evolved and civilized species on the planet if we then feel so superior and arrogant as to not respect the nature and the animals that have always lived there peacefully.
Where will this indifference bring us?
