I sat there, wondering what she meant. 'goodbye' is so sad a word to hear. She just stood there, not a word more. Her hair dancing to the rhythm of the wind.

I sat buckled in the car. Watching her through the wind shield.

But I could still percieve her perfume, and it reminded me of the pleasant memories we had together, and the bitter present we were both facing.

'if you truely love me' , she had said some minutes ago, 'you'd let me go.' How hard can letting one go be? And she had chosen this forsaken shore to break-up? I looked past her, at the lighthouse behind standing as a protective tower.

And I silently prayed she find protection in it while I find a light for my path.

The irony of life staring me in the face, a car at the seashore. I felt myself crying from within. I was lost, for she was the one who gave my life a direction,

and now, I doubt even a compass can do that.

I backed a bit, to make her reconsider her choice or maybe I felt she'd just tell me it was a joke.

She just stood there, not a word more. Her reflection casting a shadow on my future. I moved faster, she grew smaller and smaller till the rear view could not capture her image again. I closed my eyes. It must be a dream, I told myself. And it was.

An alert of a text message woke me up, it was Alice : "can we meet at the seashore?
