Bumping into Jesus - Week #21 Fox Tales
My name is Angela and I am 22 years old. All my life I have been blind. I have learned to live with my disability since I was born; surrounded by sensations, smells, tastes, sounds and voices. If someone asked me if I had ever dreamed of this, I would answer that I would never have done it in my whole life. Generally, blind people do not usually dream of images. I remember it was a Tuesday morning, when I bumped into him. That day, I had decided to go for a walk to the park, for the first time, alone; I felt the sun's heat on my skin; the fragrances flooded my senses of taste and smell. I got distracted trying to recognize the essences in the air and stumbled, fortunately, into his arms. His deep, manly voice caught my attention: "You've spent enough time in the dark," he told me. He placed his hands on my face; they smelled pretty nice. I felt his thumbs caressing my eyelids. For some reason, I was confident about him. Suddenly, I felt something that I had never felt before. My eyes began to burn and the darkness became... less and lesser. A new intense color began dominant over the darkness. I heard his voice again: "Open your eyes, slowly". The impact of millions of colors shocked me. With difficulty I opened my eyes, at first frowning my eyes at not being used to the splendor of light. For the first time in my life, I began to see. A fascinating world opened up for me at that moment. The color of the trees, the birds, the sky and the clouds distracted me. The sound of church bells brought me to reality. I looked for the strange and miraculous gentleman, but he had already left. An immense joy and an infinite gratitude filled my being.
