Love That Understood - One Paragraph Short Story
She held the face over hers. A perfect, pretty face. Smooth skin, pink soft lips, fine shaped eyebrows. The mouth dropped open, her own teeth showing through another’s lips. It would fit better once it was cured, but there was nothing like a fresh face. Her eyes sparkled with joy through the thin covering. She had dreamt of looking like this. This mask, this would be the one. She had to wear it until it dried, let the floppy flap of flesh mould to her own face. The warm smell of iron rich blood swirled with the soft brush of perfume lingering on the skin. She stuck out her tongue, licking the lips that rested on her own. They were plump, the lines of smiles, of worry and concern cut into their peachy curve. She posed in front of the mirror, the mask cold, wet, congealing on her face. It was so beautiful. He loved her as she was, he swore to her, he thought she was beautiful underneath. He told her he loved her more than anything, would do anything for her. She never dreamt he would do something this perfect. Her appeared behind her, his grinning face reflecting back. “Now you can see yourself as I do” he said, his lips kissing the cold, lifeless cheek.
This is my third entry to @vermillionfox 's one paragraph story contest
This was the first entry I wrote, when I saw this image, it struck me how she is almost, almost holding her face on...
Artwork by the wonderful @vermillionfox as part of her prompt, she creates these fantastic contests every week, with a new inspirational image to get the imagination flowing!

May your inner beauty shine through without the need to wear someone else's face ;)
For just a paragraph, this is certainly unsettling. Great job!
