Introducing Karabo (Australopithecus_sediba)
The holotype of the Australopithecus Sediba.
I photographed a very well preserved skull of Karabo discovered in the Malapa Fossil Site in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site. Although his scull is mostly complete, his body that of a young male, is only about 35% complete.
His mother (presumably) is more complete at closer to 50%.
Pictured below is a life size reconstructed replica that was on display with the original Karabo fossils and Homo Naledi fossils during their exhibit after going public with the find.
So far the Malapa fossil site has produces the bones of 6 Sediba skeletons. All likely to have fallen to their deaths down vertical shafts. I know all about that since I have done one of those falls down vertical dolomite shafts, (but more about that later.)
The site was dated using uranium lead isotope, paleomagnetism and faunal dating to between 2 and 1.5 million years old. Later flowstone dating produced a more definite age of 1.977 Ma
Sediba is considered transitional between austrolopiths and Homo
The hand is surprisingly modern as pictured below in one of Professor Lee Burger’s own photograph

A False Positive, a curious misdirection. They have removed neck bones and fiddled with other things to make it look like a transitioning human. If human evolved from creatures, then there would be millions of "fossils" well preserved all over the Equator. But there isn't
