You are right! It is way too much. If you really want to keep up, you have to keep track of them all. Some of them might not be legit. I have not included Bitcoin Platinum and Bitcoin Uranium in the list, because it seems as if these hard forks have never even taken place.
Also, when claiming the forked coins, it is important to watch out for replay protection, otherwise your bitcoins can be gone forever...
