Many uses of Japanese Knotweed
Japanese knotweed is a nuisance to most , but on my property it has been a blessing.
Not only has it been an excellent barrier between my neighbor and I ,it also attracts plenty of birds. It nutritional value is also interesting .Did you know that it has high amounts of resveratrol which is good for your heart and circulation and it is also noted to have anti - inflamatory properties as well. You can also eat the young tender shoots like you would eat aspargus. On the other side of the spectrum, it is very invasive and requires constant mowing and pruning to keep it in place. My son also enjoys playing in it and when you put dead shoots in the campfire it makes a intresting sound. It also attracts many species of bees in the fall when its in full bloom and it smells great! Also it attracts butterflies as well. I will post a video of this,this fall. We have a big problem with these in a lot of parts in Norway. While they are actually pretty beautiful, they are considered invasive, and they are almost impossible to completely get rid of once they have spread into an area. However, I know many people like to eat them, so I guess that helps in stopping the spread ;)
Well you certainly found some great pros with your Japanese knotweed. Also came up some new information for me, like it's good for your heart.

Haha, yeah, eating the invasive species is actually a good strategy. This way common people help keep their numbers in check, so keeping the population under control is a lot easier than if only the government or property owners need to do it themselves :)
Yes, absolutly!!! Because we eat them when they come out of the ground in the spring, it weakens the plant. A fun and gourmet way to fight the invader!
