Interesting games of the week (international friendly games remaining)

So before domestic football takes over (as well as the European games we're all waiting for in midweek): here are the most interesting games that happened this week !

First of all there was Germany hosting Brazil, that was their first game after that famous 7-1 semi-final in 2014 World Cup. This time Brazil managed to grab a tiny win, and showed they have recovered from that loss since then. They looked more solid and can be a very serious contender for the trophy next summer in Russia. They even didn't play with Neymar who is still injured. As for Germany, Kevin Trapp didn't look as efficient as Neuer, he lacked a lot of confidence. The team looks less solid than when they had Schweinsteiger and Lahm. But we will see what happens at the World Cup.

Another interesting opposition was Spain hosting Argentina. Needless to say Argentina totally missed this game as they crushed 6-1. Most of their leading attacking players were not there (Messi, Agüero, Dybala), but still, that can't be an excuse for such a poor defending. Well this team has always mysteries, they always struggle to qualify, their defense doesn't look to be the best at first place, but when the world cup begins, they often manage to find the right balance. Moreover, the team has changed a lot since Sampaoli's era, he has played about 10 games and is still struggling to find the right team. There are problems with Messi choosing his team sometimes, he seems to have his word quite often, that would explain why Icardi and Dybala, who are among the top offensive players in Europe, might not be included in the team for the World Cup. Really shameful. Anyway, let's talk about Spain now, who have found a really impressive balance since their last poor campaigns of 2014 and 2016 (in the World Cup and Euro). They seem to have managed to regenerate their team, especially the midfield since the retirement of Xavi Hernandez. Well so far so good for them, they can be labeled as a serious contender for the trophy too.

Most exotic confrontation now: Korea and Colombia. No world cup won by any of those sides, still very promising teams. Son from Tottenham in South Korea, and Falcao, James, and other talented offensive players in the Colombian side. Well that was balanced, but South Korea managed to show they could be impressive to beat a team that managed to beat France on its own ground just a few days ago.

Last but not least, a classic European opposition between England and Italy. Italy won't be at the World Cup, they didn't perform well enough for it. That was rare, still they are now building for next euro in 2020. And in this balanced game, they showed they are still there and competitive.
