The forgotten ones........Thanks. But you were shit!

In the last few years, we have made a number of signings who have been announced to much excitement and anticipation, only for them to drift into the background and not be heard of again. So let's take a look at what we currently know about these lost players of Leeds!

Samuel Saiz

Samuel came to us from Spanish second division team Huesca in July 2017 on a 4-year deal. At the time, unlike the other players in this post that had come with high expectations and reputations, Saiz was thought of as just another Second rate player bought on the cheap to try and shuffle the team around without major investment but how wrong were we. He set the place alight. When he is on-song, he is skillful, fast and creative and quickly became a fan favourite. There was another more sullen and sulky side to him though as when things weren't going our way, he would seemingly let his go down and go missing in games. He also had to serve a 6-match suspension after been red-carded in an FA Cup game against Newport which we disastrously lost.

During early December last year, despite our lofty place at the top of the table and things for the club looking so good, it was announced that for personal reason, Saiz would be allowed to go back to Spain and was loaned out to his former club Getafe with an option to buy at the end of the season for £6m.

His time there, it seems wasn't a great success and the option to buy wasn't exercised.

The information I could find was he was still in Spain, he certainly hasn't reported back for pre-season training but is still a registered Leeds player and no doubt we are still paying his wages.

If his head is in the right place, I'd have him back in an instant but it seems that's not going to happen and its another situation at the club that needs urgently sorting out.

Vurnon Anita

Vurnon Anita is a Dutch International who after five years at Newcastle, came to us as a free agent in July 2017. This was a signing we were excited about and he signed a 3-year contract. Although getting regular game-time under Gary 'the snake' Monk, he was often playing at left-back or right-back as opposed to his favourite centreback position and he was absolutely shit.

Like a deer caught in the headlights. Obviously over-awed by our amazing club

With Bielsa coming onboard last year he was deemed surplus to requirements and not even given a shirt number for the 2018/2019 season and was subsequently shipped off to Dutch Club Willem II on a season-long loan.

No idea what he's doing now or has planned but he's still on contract to us so another loose end to tie up and get off the books.

Laurens de Bock

Another defender who came to us with a reputation. He signed in January last year from Club Brugge on a four and a half year contract where he had won a number of domestic trophies and had represented Belgium at many international levels but although being called up to the full Belgium squad had yet to win a full cap.

Surely he must have been great?

Errr NO. Possibly the worst proper signing we have made. He was slow, scared and useless. The physicality of Championship football just wasn't working for him so after six short months which saw him drop right down the pecking order he was shipped out Belgium first division side K.V. Oostende where he made 20 appearances.

Told to find another club, yet another 'star' whose wages we are paying for nothing and need to get shot of as soon as possible.

Now to be honest, I can't whinge about them too much. They did after all 'wear the white shirt' even though they were crap. Hmmm, maybe I can moan about Saiz as he actually wanted to leave us, the idiot, but onwards and upwards!!

If anyone knows any team that wishes to take these cut price 'stars' off our hands, maybe some Pub team or Sunday League team, then please get in touch with Leeds United, Elland Road, Leeds.

Annnnd, never heard of any of these players! Fair play though, to look poor in a Leeds shirt must mean there are indeed a load of poop :P

Vurnon did also play in midfield for Newcastle though but he just never really got going in my opinion either. His a tidy passer of the ball but without the ball he always looked like a bumbling idiot, kind of reminded me of Titus Bramble, always had a mistake in him waiting to happen
