Game Set and Match

Where too from here?
Tonights game between Bayern Munich and Tottenham has a bit of a tennis score about it 7-2. In anyone's language that is a hiding and that was at home. The team and spectators ate a slice of humble pie tonight. Men vs boys and errors being punished by sloppy Spurs play in midfield. Aurier had a shocker as did many others. Very few games highlight issues this bad and then again very few games have most of your errors punished like tonight.
What the game did do was show the teams frailties and where they need to improve. Pochettino must have a list of things he needs to do and if this team makes top 4 in the premiership this season it shows you how weak the Premiership really is. If you watched Manchester United vs Arsenal last night that should tell you the state of the league as it is very weak. These are the teams meant to be challenging for top 4 then the Premiership has problems.

The second half was like watching a highlights package.
People say it is the strongest league in the world which was probably true a few seasons ago. You have Liverpool and Manchester City who have kept the standards up and everyone else is plain mediocre. What is quite clear now is City and Liverpool are so far ahead of the others they have nothing to fear, but themselves.

Embarrassed and shell shocked.
What Bayern demonstrated tonight is how to punish mistakes and Tottenham were opened up way too easily. What I found interesting was the commentators could see problems coming in the second half whilst the first half was playing out.
The one thing which proved true was they said Bayerns set up with the diamond formation is tiring Tottenham out and they won't be able to keep this up. No truer words as they proved so true. Other teams have now seen how easy it was to beat Tottenham and it is not an easy fix for Pochettino and his team. How can a team go from finalists last year to being crunched at home and we are only talking 3 or 4 months? Are they a bad team? The answer is probably no, but then again they definitely aren't a great team either.
I have read @blanchy's posts about possible rifts in the dressing room and watching this there are more problems with the squad in general. The truth is they just aren't good enough and the fans watching in the stands were silenced.
I have been to a game once before where the home side was silenced and won over by the opposition and that was in Paris way back in 1997 when South Africa beat France 52-10. The South African team was given a standing ovation by the French.
Pochettino and Tottenham have loads of work to do and maybe an exit to Real Madrid would be a welcome move right now. First things he needs to do is sort out the contract problems and settle the dressing room. If he can't do that then they have a massive problem and removing one or two players from the squad may be needed. It sounds harsh, but the team and the club has to come first.
I told @blanchy that Totenham has got bigger problems really and the truth is that that was emphasised tonight. Although it was a wrong approach anyone who's playing a side like Bayern knows you can't just come out to attack them like that it's a pathetic outing for Totenham hopefully they can learn
How do i downvote?😉😜
Well he'll sure update I know he's got one or two things to say as to why they lost so audaciously
Lol you should be downvoting Totenham for doing this to the fans 😃😃
Lol. He will most likely be drinking from the shock. Maybe he will put a positive spin on it and I am looking forward to his next post. Maybe not tonight depending where he watched the game.

What's odd is that Pochettino is someone I consider to be a great tactician but he just got it so wrong tonight, and having obviously got it wrong, couldn't seem to do anything or have any idea what to do what to change it around.
I don't know what's going on at Spurs but there are deep issues.
Man U gave turned into one of the annual fourteen Premiership midtable mediocre also-rans, Chelsea with Lampard in charge are clueless and Arsenal are their usual perennial selves being just not quite good enough.
Of course, if you'd have watched Leeds V West Brom tonight you would have seen a Premier League top 6 side in waiting!
Funny how I picked 3 matches in succession for my daily competition this week with managers about to get their P45s !!
It's a funny old game...... ;-)
As they say the wheel turns and if you aren't careful you move from the top to the bottom very quickly. Leeds need to come back up as it has been way too long now. I just found it interesting that the commentary team could see the problems that were coming tonight 30 minutes before it happened. Bayern players said afterwards that Tottenham hold a high line so there is space in behind them which was a little obvious.
I missed Bayern's match but watched that of Madrid
I was just going through Livescores for updates and was shocked to see that Bayern Munich had massacred Tottenham 7-2
Even though I didn't watch the match, it's a pure disgrace to Totteham and I wonder how their fans would feel
Just when I saw the scoreline it made me scratch my head. There was a slight change in the line up compared to what was this team in the Champions League last season. It's just not pleasing to see Tottenham like this.
South Africans were doing wonders in sports during that period (90's). If you are also a cricket fan, you must have seen their outstanding performances in the cricket as well.
One thing is clear from the match, and I agree with you, Tottenham does need some reformation, otherwise even Pochettino's brilliance wouldn't able to save the team from the downfall, which was quite obvious in this match.
Yes the SA teams were doing rather well back then until politics took over and weakened all the teams. look at the performance by the squad in India right now. I have stopped following them a while back as it is a joke. Bavuma was bought back into the team as a batsmen yet he averages 30 and most of his runs have come when there has been no pressure in at number 4 with the team scoring 300 plus already.
I couldn't agree more, politics has played a major part in the downfall of many teams around the world, Pakistani team is one among them as well, but we are hopeful for gradual improvements, as everything is under microscopic audit now.
Sports are a very profiting industry all around the world, and when there is profit there are corruption and politics, and most of the time these factors bring a big disappointment to its fan, and funny thing, many of them don't know what's exactly going on on the background, only speculations.
Who knows maybe 1 day the mls will take over as the premeire soccer league in the world =)
Can't see that happening as Europe is the power house when it comes to leagues. Players only go to the US as a payout at the end of their careers.
Minir blip . We lost first three champions league ganes last year as well and we still got to final . Its the same tean bar dodgy trippier. 3rd place . No problem . Munich were unreal though in fairness
I can still see them making third or fourth as the others are in a worse position than Spurs. I think this is a little bigger than a blip to be honest.
