My Sinulog Grub!
If you have checked my previous post, you'll probably have an idea what the Sinulog festival is. To give you a short recap, Sinulog is one of the grandest cultural festivals in the Philippines. It includes novena masses in honor of the Sto. Nino, fluvial parades, street dancing and parties but most of all, who would forget the unlimited "fiesta" food????
(Here's a photo of the lechon taken in our backyard)
One of the most popular Filipino delicacies to serve during Filipino fiestas or celebration is the "Lechon" or roasted pig. It's basically pork stuffed with native Filipino herbs and spices to have a more flavourful taste which is then roasted in charcoal.
Lucky me, my father is a good cook (no kidding!). He decided to make his own version of lechon because he thinks his cooking is far way better than most "lechoneros" do. Haha! And at the same time, cooking our own lechon would save us half the amount of money rather than buying the commercial ones. :)
Here's a picture of the finish product. It's very flavourful and crisp-overload! I almost forgot my diet! :p
If you'll come to the Philippines, don't forget to try the Filipino lechon. I guarantee you that it's one of the tastiest lechon in the world!
