Chinese cooking has a variety of styles that I have come to enjoy over the years. Ever since I was young, I quickly came to know about the different cooking styles belonging to their respective provinces. There would of course be similarities between certain styles but much of this is due to historical settlement as people shifted between areas. For those travelling around China, it will be worth doing a little research into area specific dishes that have become famous. Many of these traditional dishes are best served in their home towns and it would be a shame to miss such an opportunity. While Chinese cooking has less emphasis on confectionery, there are a number of traditionally sweet dishes that are served.
