🎧 Marron 5 – Sunday Morning   

Hi steemers! ☀ I wouldn't say that I have an enormous sweet tooth. But sometimes the desserts look so amazing! This is, of course, cause for sincere joy to me.

And today I would like to tell you about traditional Thai desserts that we saw at the Sunday market in old town Takua Pa in southern Thailand.

But first, let me tell you a little bit about Takua Pa Old Town.  

Takua Pa Old Town 

Takua Pa is a transport hub. In fact, most travelers pass it by or stay for one night to take a little break from the travelling. But we've driven a rented motorbike along the coast of the Andaman Sea and the surrounding area and stayed there for a week.

A long time ago Takua Pa was the largest tin mining center.  It's different now.  There are empty quiet streets with beautiful old buildings. Takua Pa seems like a ghost town.

Most of the buildings in Old Takua Pa are empty now.  Nevertheless, if you find yourself in this town you'll see an atmospheric streets and will feel that there was seething life before. The town comes alive only when the people of the nearby villages and tourists come to celebrations and markets.

Old Takua Pa Sunday Market

The main street of Takua Pa old town comes back to life every Sunday from 15:00 to 19:00 for a few months a year. The fact of the matter is that  traditional local street market is held there. Local people set carts and tents with a variety of sweets and colorful Thai food on both sides of the main street. 

The sellers are smiling and waving their hands, inviting visitors to try sweets. Some sellers are cooking right in front of the guests. It's very cool! It is better to come to the opening, to see how it starts. Then you'll have a time to try everything!

Thai sweets are an incredible combination of unexpected flavors. It's impossible to imagine what you can expect trying to taste the most ordinary candy. Although you'll have to  try hard to find common candy.

 🔼 For example, Luk Chup. It looks like a little colored candy. But in fact, it consists of crushed beans and gelatin! It has very specific taste and looks amazing!
