LAZY KITCHEN🍳: QUICK, DELICIOUS BURGERS WITH SWEET POTATO FRIES
So yesterday I decided to make ostrich burgers. Why ostrich and not beef? Well ostrich is actually a leaner meat than beef with less fat and more protein. That, and I prefer the taste of ostrich mince. (But not ostrich steak.) This is a easy and quick recipe that taste amazing and is currently one of my favourite meals.
What you need:
Handful of ostrich mince
1 egg
10g white rice flour
Pre-cut sweet potato fries
Salad garnish
Olive Oil
Paprika spice
Salt
Tomato Sauce
So as you guys know I unfortunately can't have gluten and the store was out of stock in gluten free buns, but this recipe was pretty great without it so it's okay. I would make a bun from scratch, but that defeats the lazy part of Lazy Kitchen and would take longer to prepare this meal.
So you start off with pre-heating the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. I put tinfoil on my baking pan so that I don't have to use spray cook and don't have to clean the pan afterwards. (Again you see why this is called lazy kitchen.😄) After you've done that, whisk the egg with the flour and a pinch of salt in a bowl until it is all whisked together. Then soak the mince in the mixture for a bit. Then take it out and form it into a ball. Put the ball of mince onto the tinfoil on the pan and squish it down until it's round and flat. Once you've done that, all you need to do is add sweet potato fries onto the pan (how ever many you want) and add about 2 teaspoons of oil onto the fries (depending on how crispy you want the fries to be and how much you have on the pan.) If you want more flavour, add some paprika and salt and put it in the pre-heated oven. The patty only needs to be in the oven for about 15 minutes, while the fries need to be in the oven for about 20 minutes, so after 15 minutes, make sure you take the patties out and leave the fries in for another 5-10 minutes. The patties come off the tinfoil easily, but still make sure you are careful with separating them from the foil. The fries may be more of a mission, but not too much. 😉
After that you should be all set. Place the patty and fries on a plate and garnish it with tomato sauce (or BBQ sauce) and salad garnish and eat away. Quick, healthy, and easy recipe. If you can get hold of a gluten free bun, make sure to warm it up in the microwave for 30 seconds to make it warm and soft or if you can have gluten, do the same thing to your bread roll. But otherwise, if you are on a low-carb diet, follow this recipe and thank me later. 😉
