😲 Show the WEIRD DISH that comes from your country and WIN STEEM! [FOODspedition #14]
In every culture we will find a dish which, after trying, brings only one question "WTF?! What have I just eaten?". We are surprised by its look, taste or texture and we are not sure if we want to try it ever again. In this edition of FOODspedition we will get to know weird dishes! The prize pool in this round is 6 STEEM!
How to take part in the FOODspedition?
➡ In the comment show us a picture of the weird dish that comes from your country.
➡ Write its name and describe it briefly.
➡ In the comment, add also its estimated value in your currency, US dollars and STEEM.
Important! If you are using an image that you are not the author please enter its source. I will check the entries and if the author does not provide the source of the photo or description he uses will be disqualified.
Members of the FOODspedition, who will take photos or prepare the whole dish on their own, have a much more chance to win a prize. 😉
What you can win?
From your comments I will choose and award three, in my opinion, the most interesting entries, and the authors will receive prizes! In the prize pool of that round we have 6 STEEM!

Name: Rojak
Country: Malaysia
Price: 4 RM / 1 USD / 4.3 STEEM
Info:
Rojak is a traditional dish from Malaysia. It is a combination of fruit and vegetable salad with dessert.
Among the ingredients you will find cucumber, pineapple, sprouts, crispy, slightly sweet chips, taupok (puffy, deep-fried tofu) mixed with a sweet thick, spicy peanut sauce. And it is the sauce that causes the confusion here. It is made up of water, belacan (shrimp paste), peanuts, sugar, chili, tamarind or black bean paste and lime juice.
Imagine a sauce that reminds in consistency and look of a traditional BBQ sauce, is sweet BUT you can sense the clear, strong taste of the fish in it!
Now let's go one step ahead. Combine this taste with pineapple or cucumber in your mind. For me this fusion was impossible to eat. I gave up after just a few bites and I never want to go back to it again.
And now it's time for your entry!
Show us the weird dish that comes from your country in the comment!

Nice contest! For this I would nominate Hollandse Nieuwe (Soused herring).
Here in the Netherlands we eat it as a snack, raw and served with some unions . We lift the herring by its tail and eat it upwards above your mouth. Every year many people in my country are looking forward till the moment is there the new shipments arrive in the harbor. This day is called vlaggetjesdag. We have a auction for the first keg (in it approx 45 herringen). The income will be payed out to a charity (every year another charity).

Name: γλυκάδια
Country: Greece
Price: 4 Euros per kg
in my country, Greece, we have what we call 'γλυκάδια', which English people call sweetbreads. It's basically the pancreas of a young calf, lamb or piglet.
I used to eat them, because I found them tasty, but now they revolt me. Yuk!
You can see a picture of them in the following link:

or in this picture, which is labelled for reuse:

Easy, I already created a D.tube movie from it after SF3.
I think nowhere anywhere else in the world they eat as many liquorice as we Dutchies do. I believe we eat per person 2kg of liquorice in a year. So that is more than 30 billion kilos of liquorice in only my country! But more and more people who brought a visit to the Netherlands bring back home a package of liquorice. A Dutch tradition is also to bring the liquorice always with you while being on the road.
Origins
It all started with the roots of the liquoriceplant. This plant only grows in warmer countries like Spain and China for example. The roots must be dried before they can do anything with them. After drying they can grind the roots, so they can add water again, so they can strain the result of that. After straining all what is left is called a block of liquorice. This product they ship to the Netherlands where we can use this to create our beloved liquorice.

Country: Venezuela
Price: 2500 BsS / 4 USD / 17.2 STEEM
A kind of omelet with fried plantain And morrocoy meat, the name given in Venezuela to the land turtle. They prepare it at Easter (in time of abstinence from the consumption of beef) and it's not very easy to get it, catholic people eat this animal or fish.
The original combination of ingredients was added over time those brought from distant Spain, such as capers, olives and raisins. And the technique of preparing the famous Spanish omelet was applied to its preparation.
This Venezuelan custom of making the cake or curd of morrocoy which comes to us from the time of the colony around 1779.
Personally I don't eat any dish with this animal, because is in danger of extinction and I have two of them as pets :(
