As curiosity i can add, that on the faroe islands, when you order french fries, they add vinegar. Only place i have tried that.

And they add pickled red cabbage on their hotdogs... but thats another story :-)

Really! Pickled cabbage on hotdog doesn't sound bad at all!
In Britain I've had malt vinegar with the fries a lot of times, it's really nice. Almost all dishes are boring without at least some acidity.

No the cabbage is a traditional thing in many danish dishes, like frikadeller (köttbullar). On hotdogs is better than it sounds :-)
Absolutely. Acidity is a very overlooked "spice" in most peoples cooking. I use any opportunity to get it acidicized :-)... In a cook book from a famous danish beach resort hotel, it says " lemon is what destroys the food, if not added " :-)
