RE: Betty’s – A Quintessential English Café Tea Room

in #food7 years ago

I would agree with your 'ambulance' statement, I dont tend to frequent the workman's cafe's these days, well except for the one at my place of work which really isnt much of a step up.

You appear to have travelled to England at some point to know about the cream teas? They are famous in the south east but we have pretty good ones too in my region. It's just an 'English' thing. I cant abide black pudding, though my wife who is a native of the philippines loves it.

I cant remember every having one of these 'ambulance' breakfasts during my 1.5 years living in the US. The Fish and Chips were lousy too (sorry). Long John Silver's was the only chain I found, I visited only once.

Sort:

I was bored in Londinium. I now live in New Mexico with a Texan for whom I forgave that sin when she agreed to undertake the care and maintenance of a feline mustelid "until death do us part."

I'd be amazed if you ever did have a proper English breakfast here. And I forgot to mention the huge mug of hot sweet tea.

Sadly around here Long John Silver's is about as good as it gets. I understand there are a few good chippies in the country, but only a few and not here.

Trust me, I'm a doctor.
