Pressing Your Own Sunflower Seed Oil [VIDEO]
As promised, this is part 2 of the video series on how to press your own oil using the PITEBA oil press (found here).
In this video, we actually get to pressing the seeds and extracting the oil. If you missed the first part of the video on how to set up the oil press, make sure to watch it (the Steemit blog post is here).
In the video, I mention that you can get 3 gallons out of a 50-lb bag of seeds, but I was incorrect. It is actually MORE than that. You should be able to get around 4 gallons from 50 lbs of seed!
It does take a bit of processing to get your seeds ready, but what else do you have to do on a cold winter's evening? Ha!

Right!?! That is exactly what we are thinking. We will be planting sunflower seeds this spring, watch them grow all summer, and then harvest them in the fall. Maybe have our first start-to-finish product within the year!

Yeah, the amount of effort was quite surprising to the both of us. However, it is totally worth it to have real fresh oil with nothing else in it - and that I can say for sure!

This is seriously amazing. I had never thought about pressing sunflower seeds to get oil! I'm am trying to reduce dependence on stores and also plastic, so making use of downtime to produce my own oil is a perfect job. Growing a tonne more sunflowers this year just rocketed up my to-do list!
We have a big field in our front yard that is just waiting for our sunflowers! Such a great plant. Brings beauty while they grow, provides oil for us, and food for all of our livestock. Such a gift!
