In this post I am going to show you how to make my favorite cold remedy, Lemon and Honey Tea. This recipe is easy to make and all natural. I am feeling a bit under the weather and don't have much energy to make a cooking or baking episode today, so I thought I would make this instead. I also take vitamin c, multivitamins, airborne, and zinc to try and fight off colds and illness. This tea has very few ingredients, if I can make it, you can make it, let's get started.

Ingredients:
Hot water (8 to 12 ounces)
juice from half of a lemon
1 to 3 tsp. of honey (doesn't have to be exact, just put some in and taste it. :))
1 Echinacea capsule (optional ingredient)

Pretty easy to make, just heat up some water in a mug, as hot as you want it, add the lemon, honey, and echinacea (optional). Also one thing I learned about honey, it can help you fall asleep at night time, just take about a half tsp. of it or so before bed, and it will coat your throat, and help with coughing. Try it out next time, as long as you are not allergic of course.

Think I will go curl up on the couch and take a nap now.

According to World's Healthiest Foods, a quarter cup of lemon juice contains 31 percent of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C and 3 percent of folate and 2 percent of potassium — all for around 13 calories. A whole raw lemon contains 139 percent of the recommended daily vitamin C intake and has 22 calories while Nutritionally, 1 tablespoon of honey (21 grams) contains 64 calories and 17 grams of sugar, including fructose, glucose, maltose and sucrose. It contains virtually no fiber, fat or protein (2).
