A steemian's world food journal: Sydney part 2

Hello everybody,
I am back with the second part of my food journal in Sydney. On the previous entry, we visited the fish market and Sushi Rio- a very nice Japanese restaurant on Sussex street. This time, forget about sushi and all the seafood dishes, let me take you to brand new places with amazing foods that I had eaten several times when I was studying in Sydney. If you are hungry, please go get a snack and come back later :P

CHAT THAI – AUTHENTIC THAI RESTAURANT

This restaurant offers authentic Thai food, the best Thai dishes that I have ever tried (though I have been to Thailand several times). My first impression is the decoration here, very eye catching and modern. There are many Chat Thai restaurants in Sydney, but the one in Campbell street, near Paddy market is the best one. During lunchtime and dinnertime, the place is always crowded and you had better make a reservation other while you will have to wait in a long line. The second impression is the food stall where there are many chefs directly cooking and preparing food for customers.

My favorite dish here is Green curry duck with rice. I just love the curry sauce with coconut, not too spicy and the aroma is awesome. The rice is so sticky and soft. What a great combination <3

Guess what is it in the picture above? If you have never tried it, I bet you can’t tell. It’s FISH, FISH salad in Thai style. Describing this dish is a challenge to me, but I will try: fish is smashed, and then deep-fried until it turns yellow brown, and crunchy. Then they pour the sweet and sour sauce, and mix them with fresh vegetables. The fish is extremely aromatic, and it is just melted down in your mouth. The sauce is super balanced- 9/10 from me <3

Chat Thai also offers a popular menu of dessert, from Thai famous sweet soups to mango sticky rice, and some kinds of cakes. You can smell the aroma from the food stall once you step into the restaurant.

Thai sweet soup with a type of jelly (they put the coconut meat inside the jelly), the soup is coconut soup which is super creamy. You will not want to try it if you are on a diet :P

and the famous mango sticky rice. Thai mango is the best mango in the world, and it is such a great idea to eat mango with sticky rice, and coconut sauce. I just can never get enough of this dessert, though it is very fat :(

THE TWISTED NOODLE BAR in DARLING HABOUR

If you are a fan of spicy food, this place is definitely a must-try. It offers Chinese twisted noodle with many flavors. The noodle bowl is named after different cities of China such as Yunnan, Kungming, Dali and Xishuang etc. You can choose the spicy level (there are total 3 levels). Let’s look at the menu:

Yes, you can tell it is spicy just by looking at the picture. I choose level 2 and it is super spicy already. I wonder how the highest level would taste. The special thing is each noodle bowl comes with a side dish, mine is deep-fried chicken wings and sausages. You can eat them separately or put them in the soup, both ways are tasty. I often order Yunnan noodle, it contains pork, beef, boiled egg and some vegetables. The noodle is very nice, they are fresh and directly made by the chef of the restaurant.

The drinks look so cool in these bottles. We ordered milk tea and lychee tea :)

MAX BRENNER – CHOCOLATE AND MORE
This place is quite famous in Sydney for chocolate-related desserts. There are many types of cakes:

We ordered chocolate fondue with strawberry, brownie and marshmallow. It looks yummy, and the taste is lovely. The chocolate is not too sweet and that is what I like about Max Brenner. Chocolate sauce is aromatic, hot and a little bitter.
I also had a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallow as well. Though I might gain 1 kg after finishing all of these, but who can resist this sweet trap? It is so tempting :P
