Did you know that fish swims three times? Oh yeah...For the first time in sea, second time in oil while for the third time she swims in wine. That's what they say in Croatia, confidently. I find it kinda stupidish, but eh..

If you come to Croatian coast I guess the hot sea and beautiful chicks won't satisfy you for long. After all hangovers fade out and there is no more amphetamines in your system you'll start searching for some good authentic Mediterranean food. To ease the pain in your heart after repetitive pick-up-a-local failures.

Most of restaurants are way overpriced so I suggest you to buy some fresh fish, crabs, prawns, shrimps or any other devil from the blue on some "wild" market. Well maybe not so "wild" anymore due to the EU. Fish is delivered every morning by the local fisherman and the price is reasonable.

Few days ago we got some chub mackerels and some Adriatic prawns. I decided to make them quite traditionally. You don't need much more than a good olive oil, fresh rosemary and a grill.

If you're checked on these three things, you're ready to go fly.


Grilled chub mackerels stuffed with herbs and prawn kebabs with chilly, parsley and garlic.


Prepare your ingredients as they always say on tv. Organize, sharpen your knives, wet cloth under the cutting board...

Marinate the prawns any way you want, simple olive oil and salt combo is more than ok. Chillies, parsley, garlic and lemon zest is my pick. All home grown.

If you wanna be sure the fish is fresh, always look at their eyes. If they are clear you're good.

Be careful not to kill anybody while cleaning the fish. Beside knife party you can get stabbed in your finger by some little bone of this exciting animal.

Try not to do that over the drain. Consequences could be dreadful.

Set your BBQ on fire, preferably with some quality wood. Not an expert on that question. I used pine wood as it is all around.

Treat them as you treat your lady/boy/ladyboy. Gently lay them down, rub a lotion on them while tickling them gently with a fresh rosemary brush. You can sing to them if you want, that’s a plus. In this case.

Just a few chicken kebabs on a side. Or for dinner. I won't suggest you how to marinate your chicken. But, If you have fresh herbs, home grown garlic and home made extra virgin olive oil I guess you wouldn't think twice either.

At that point you're not allowed to screw around doing God knows what cause you might seriously over dry them. You'll be sad and your gf will dump you.


Easy to make, low cost, tender, silky, aromatic and soothing.

No reason to eat in a mediocre, expensive restaurants every day. You'll have fun doing it, earn a few blisters maybe, but feel good and content in the end while enjoying it. Unless you fuck it up by over drying it.

Dig deep into the sea rather than your wallet. Hope you'll find some of these advices useful while cruising over the Adriatic sea with an empty belly.
