Chocolate Fudge Cake With Ganache Frosting | Recipe

in #food6 years ago (edited)

I have not met a person yet that didn’t enjoy a piece of chocolate cake, and quite frankly…I don’t want to. There is something about chocolate that has the ability to cross continents and bring people together, ok maybe I am going a bit overboard… but come on, it’s CHOCOLATE. This cake is so easy to make and the end result is a decadent, moist, luxurious cake that is perfect for any occasion including; birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, special occasions and just a good ole Thursday night. I thought this was the perfect recipe to share with you today and I hope you enjoy!

Warning; This is NOT a healthy recipe…but it is a delicious one.

The Ingredients

IMG_20180322_194337-1843x1382.jpg

  • 1 ¾ cups All Purpose Flour
  • ¾ Cup Cocoa Powder
  • 2 oz Baking Chocolate (shaved)
  • 1 ½ Cups Sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 ½ tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • ½ Cup Coconut Oil (melted)
  • 3 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Cup Boiling Water

The Ganache Frosting

  • 4 Tbsp Butter
  • 2 oz Baking Chocolate (shaved)

Putting It Together

Combine your Flour, Sugar, Cocoa Powder, Baking Powder, Baking Soda and Salt into a large bowl. Stir to combine.

Add in your Eggs, Milk, Vanilla and melted Coconut Oil, mix well.

Now, here comes my favorite part…the chocolate

IMG_20180322_200535-1840x1205.jpg

Add your shaved chocolate to the batter...

IMG_20180322_194847-1843x1382.jpg

Mixing just until combined…and try to keep those little fingers out..I dare you.

Then we are going to add the boiling water and mix well. The batter will be very thin, but trust me it will turn out perfectly.

Next pour your batter into your prepared pan, tapping on the counter to remove air bubbles. (Quick Tip – when preparing your pan for chocolate cake use cocoa powder instead of flour.)

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until middle of cake is firm, remove and let cool.

The Ganache

Ok, so technically this is not the real deal Ganache, but it is easy and turns out perfectly...so don't be a food snob. While your cake is cooling place your butter and shaved chocolate into a small saucepan over low heat.

Stir frequently, until you end up with this glorious texture.

IMG_20180322_195435-1843x1382.jpg

Then just simply pour the Ganache over the cake and smooth around edges. Place the cake in the fridge for about 30 minutes to let the frosting set up.

Then dive in...

Oh man, that looks amazing! I know you said it's not healthy but I am pretty sure it is. :D

It's healthy for your mind and soul 😉. Thank you so much!

I mean honestly, it is healthier than buying the prepackaged stuff from the store...so...win-win!

Holy yum dude. I want this sooo much.

Thank you!! It's indulgent...but oh so good ❤

I love the photo with the little marauding fingers! What a great cake since you can just mix it up with a wooden spoon. My kids love recipes like that. I don't have any coconut oil; would canola oil or melted shortening work as well?

Yes! I'm sorry my reply is so late and oil would work including butter (thanks @amymya ❤), canola, olive, or even applesauce in place of oil all together.

Thank you!I love when recipes are this easy...and the kiddos fingers just wouldn't stay out, so I thought I would include a "real life" moment. Haha.

Thank you both for the response! :) and the real life moment made it extra cute!

Butter probably would...

It's a dang good thing I have a fresh baked devil's food cake in the kitchen right now, or I'd be too envious to type! I'm putting the ingredients for this on my shopping list, and I plan to make it in the very near future. Oh, and I've pinned this for good measure. I thank you, my tummy thanks you, but my hips are already not happy... LOL!

I can't decide which part I would want to taste first. The ooey gooey looking cake or the fudgy icing. My word.... this needs to get on in my belly. I LOVE CHOCOLATE and this looks amazing! I have company coming in 2 weeks and this may be perfect to make. Thank you!

Chocolate cakeeeeee..... I am not good at baking I am afraid. Any resemblance of what I do to that beautiful cake would be mere coincidence. 😶
