The method of washing clothes with chestnuts goes slowly into oblivion. Too bad, because it is as effective as using different detergents, and at the same harmless to allergy sufferers and the environment, does not damage the skin, completely neutral for all fabrics and much cheaper.

Well chestnuts (which, in contrast to expensive detergents, they can collect the majority of Polish roads), cashew nuts, and even marigold, aloe, saponaria officinalis and a few others have foaming properties and lower the surface tension of water. Thereby, water will more readily associate with particles of dirt and effectively cleans any fabric. For such action are responsible saponins. Let us add here that saponins are suitable not only for washing, because with the success can also replace the usual soap, shampoo, or even washing up liquid. Just remember not to drink the water in which we kept chestnuts and rinse thoroughly dishes, washed in this environmentally friendly way, because the consumption of saponin in larger quantities may end up poisoning and vomiting.

Chestnuts is probably the easiest to come by in Poland, the source of saponins. Just go for a walk in the autumn space planted chestnut trees and gather their fruit lying on the ground. Surplus can safely be stored in a ventilated area and use as needed until the next harvest.

Fruits should be gouged out from the shell (the brown) and cuted into small pieces or, if possible, rubbed to mush with the side of a knife. Remember that food products containing saponins is not indicated, and therefore not fit them on board, where you're doing sandwiches and other food.

About a cup of fruits should be enough per one wash. Put rubbed chestnuts into the pot (which is not used to cook the food) and pour with a glass of water.

Put the whole mixture on gas and bring it to the boil temperature and simmer for 10 minutes.

Then we pour the mixture (you can drain the pieces of fruit) in a bowl, in which we will wash. 

When washing in the washing machine is better to use uncooked chestnuts. Just cut into four pieces and insert inside bound sock. 

The best part is that in this way can wash  colored and white clothes, as saponins not release the color of the fabric and thus nothing is dyed. 

For washing white things only You should add a tablespoon of baking soda to make white more pronounced.

In addition, chestnut shredded and crushed to a pulp we can make soap. Mix it with a little water (just to be covered) and cook for 10 minutes. When the mush cool enough translate it into cloth, wring out the water and form a handy soap. When completely dry, we will be able to wash with it.

The molded lumps can burst over time and turn into powder. The soap has a fairly strong tendency to catch mold, so You should strictly control the drying process. You may also notice a color is changing in to darker. The soap is very suitable for washing the skin and powder form for washing. Well boiled soap is odorless.

It is a common plant in our country, we can even grow in your own garden. 

To do natural cleaners use its roots and act the same way as in the case of chestnut - Rubbed and cooked 10 minutes.
