I love a good char on my food! My mom and dad personally love their food burnt, and while i'm not a fan of it being completely black, I do like a good char and some black spots around the the meats and vegetables. The taste isn't for everyone and a lot of it can ruin the flavor for me but a little amount really adds such a good combination of flavor and texture.
There's a lot of bbq in China and I really love it but it's hard to get them to char the food. They're really big into advocating that it causes cancer and throws off your inner chi.
