Red bell peppers are great on a sandwich.
I was at my local grocery store today and I noticed a really good price on red bell peppers.
You can usually find a pretty good deal on green bell peppers but the red, yellow, and orange varieties are often much more expensive.
I've seen red bell peppers is high as $1.50.
Today they were on sale for only $0.33.
I thought to myself "What better way to make a good sandwich than to add red bell peppers?"
So I bought half a pound of turkey meat and a large red bell pepper.
I prefer my peppers to have a slightly roasted flavor so I popped it in the toaster oven for a few minutes.
Those of you who know me might know that my oven and stove broke last month.
This toaster oven has served me well though.
After about seven minutes the peppers came out nice and roasted.
Roasted red pepper and turkey sandwich.
I realized at this point that I might have bought some lettuce, mustard, etc....
However, I really wanted to taste the red peppers so I think I like it just as it is.
The red bell peppers were soft, tangy, sweet, and delicious.
The perfect accompaniment to my meal.
Red bell peppers are great on a sandwich.
Even 1.50/lb is cheap compared to where I live. I still buy them though. Love red peppers. I heard a red pepper has more vitamin C than an orange. So, that's good.
